Around 22,000 households are to be migrated over to renewable electricity supplies after Octopus Energy yesterday announced it has acquired Affect Energy. Octopus confirmed that it completed the purchase late last week for an undisclosed seven figure sum. The move adds Affect Energy’s 22,000 domestic customers to Octopus’ 350,000 customer base and will now see Affect Energy customers migrated to Octopus Energy’s systems and 100 per cent renewable electricity supplies. The deal continues Octopus’ recent expansion push, after the recent announcement it is to supply energy under the M&S Energy brand and the decision by Ofgem’s Supplier of Last Resort programme to appoint it take over the 95,000 strong customer-base of insolvent Iresa.
