Shell is considering using its own brand to challenge British Gas in the battle for domestic power customers. After its acquisition last year of electricity and gas supplier First Utility, the oil giant is considering putting its own name over the door. John Abbott, who runs the FTSE 100 giant’s downstream business, said: “That’s clearly an option we have. We’ll consider it.” The move would mark an escalation in Shell’s battle to lure customers from the big six energy suppliers.
