The green energy entrepreneur who wants to build tidal lagoons off Wales is asking investors for £1.2 million to keep the project alive. Mark Shorrock gained planning consent for the first proposed lagoon, in Swansea Bay, in 2015 but failed to persuade the government to offer crucial subsidies for the £1.3 billion project. Labour and Plaid Cymru have expressed support for the proposal but planning permission for the Swansea project is due to lapse in June unless material works have begun.
