An energy metering company is seeking to raise £300 million through a London flotation, targeting a valuation in excess of £1.3 billion. Calisen is owned by KKR, the private equity firm, and owns about a third of the smart gas and electricity meters installed in Britain. It procures, installs and manages meters on behalf of energy suppliers, recouping the upfront costs through long-term rental agreements. It owns about 4.7 million smart meters and 3.5 million traditional ones through two businesses, Calvin Capital and Lowri Beck, which it acquired last year.
