Minsmere nature reserve’s status as one of Europe’s most important areas for nature and biodiversity could be at risk if EDF fails to adequately mitigate adverse impacts from Sizewell C, the RSPB has revealed. The renewal of Minsmere’s European Diploma for Protected Areas has been approved in draft on the condition that “the construction of the new reactor will not be at the detriment of the Minsmere Reserve.”

More than 1,500 students in Suffolk have been told about the potential employment and training benefits from the proposed Sizewell C power station as part of a Schools Roadshow organised by EDF Energy. Events have been held at schools and colleges across the county to raise awareness about the project which could provide around 25,000 job opportunities and hundreds of apprenticeships during construction, as well as 900 jobs once it is operating.
