One of Scotland’s longest standing manufacturer and installer of solar PV panels, AES Solar, has set up shop in Scotland’s capital city due to increased demand for its products. The first manufacturer of solar thermal panels in Europe, AES has been operating from Forres, Moray for over 20-years with its managing director, George Goudsmit a 40-year veteran of the technology. The company, whose head office and manufacturing facility will remain in Moray, made the decision to branch out after securing more work in the central belt.

Solar carport specialist Flexisolar has announced the hire of five new sales staff as it sets sights on new projects up and down the UK. Two new directors will lead Flexisolar’s sales team. Business development director Adam Goves joins Flexisolar having previously led his own energy consultancy, while sales director Guy Morrison joins from solar and battery storage installer Poweri Services. Both Goves and Morrison also have experience from previously working on behalf of Lark Energy, while Morrison once served at electric vehicle (EV) charge point manufacturer Chargemaster. Flexisolar has received more than £2.3 million in funding from innovation agency Innovate UK to develop large-scale solar carprots for integrated transport and energy systems, the most recent tranche of funding having been awarded for the period running June 2017 to March 2018. Solar carports have long been billed as having significant national potential in the UK but have yet to truly take off.
