The Welsh Government, RenewableUK and several green groups have jointly called for onshore wind and solar projects to be allowed to compete in future UK clean energy auction rounds, arguing that the UK’s current subsidy regime is “threatening” the renewables sector in Wales. A statement issued today calls on the UK government to “look again” at the way in which Contracts for Difference (CfD) auction schemes currently operate in order to better support development of renewable electricity facilities, and to help Wales meet its decarbonisation targets.
