The new owner of the former BiFab yard in Methil expects to have more than 400 staff on site by the end of this year, almost 50 per cent more than its original estimate. John Wood, chief executive of London based Infrastrata, which rescued BiFab’s Methil and Arnish yards from administrators in February, said the number of staff represented “peak loading” to complete the £26 million contract to fabricate turbine jackets for the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) wind farm. Work on the contract will begin in July at Methil. That now operates under Infrastrata’s Harland & Wolff business which the firm acquired after it bought the famous Belfast yard out of administration in 2019.
