A FERRY crossing between Scotland and Northern Ireland had to avoid a nuclear submarine, an official probe has heard. Although there was no collision, it was the third accident or incident between a dived Royal Navy submarine and a surface vessel in four years. Investigators said it was ‘a matter of significant concern’. The Faslane-based submarine, which has not been named, was said to be on a training exercise with 282 people on board.
