Plans for a £15 million research centre to help manufacturers win work in the nuclear sector are moving forward. Derby City Council has agreed to back the new Manufacturing Research Centre (MRC) at Infinity Park on the southern edge of the city, which will create up to 70 high value jobs and generate millions of pounds worth of opportunities. The council is working on the plans with the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre – Nuclear AMRC – the University of Derby and construction consultancy IPD LLP. A planning application will be submitted in February, and pending planning approval work could start next August. The site will create a permanent base for Nuclear AMRC and follows a successful pilot project run over the past 18 months.
