The heatwave this year resulted in record high levels of solar energy generation at a Bristol facility. The city’s Avonmouth solar park generated 797,112kWh of renewable electricity between 1st May and 25th July – enough to power around 257 homes a year. That’s 120,000kWh more than what was generated during the same period last year – enough to power an extra 39 households. The solar facility, owned by Bristol City Council, consists of 7,000 panels which sit alongside two wind turbines that were installed in December 2015.
