Campaigners push for ‘just transition’ for UK oil workers. In the past, ships such as Greenpeace’s Rainbow Warrior III were often inconvenient for North Sea oil and gas workers as they were deployed by campaign groups. But in recent months, the Rainbow Warrior is a 58-meter motorized sailing vessel named after its former Greenpeace vessel. Sunk by the French Secret Service in 1985 Calls for a “fair transition” campaign on behalf of North Sea oil and gas workers in ports in Scotland and north-eastern England. It may seem like an unlikely alliance, but it helps environmentalists further promote their goal of accelerating the closure of the UK fossil fuel industry.

Nicola Sturgeon has launched a new academy designed to help people find green jobs and learn new skills. The Green Jobs Workforce Academy will list new jobs related to the net-zero economy on its website, including roles in renewable energy, construction and transport.
