Work on the Hunterston Reactor 3 safety case continues and we have revised our latest expectation for its return to service to 10 April 2020 – previously we expected it to return on 28 February. Reactor 4 came offline in mid-December, following a period of safe and reliable production over several months. We are continuing our detailed graphite inspections and liaising closely with the ONR on the results. We now aim to return the unit to service on 24 April 2020 – previously we expected it to return on 13 March.

EDF Energy, the British arm of French utility EDF, has extended an outage at its Hunterston B-7 reactor to April 10, 2020, it said on its website. The reactor in Scotland was previously scheduled to come back online on Feb. 28. It has been offline since 2018 after routine inspections found cracks in its graphite core and the restart has been delayed several times since.
