UK households will be powered by heat stored deep in the ground next year after the country’s first geothermal energy plant signed a deal to supply electricity to a major energy company. The agreement between the green energy supplier Ecotricity and Geothermal Engineering in Cornwall will provide enough electricity to power 10,000 households from spring next year.
