In the face of the climate emergency, nuclear energy is often mentioned in France, despite the risks attached to it, as a credible global solution to the fight against global warming, in the same way as energy savings and renewable energies. Today, nuclear generation accounts for 10% of global electricity production (down 7 points since 1996), barely 2% of final energy consumption, and prevents 2 , 5% of global greenhouse gas emissions! The average age of the world park continues to increase and reaches 30 years in 2018. No wonder since the number of new construction starts of new reactors dropped from 44 in 1976 to 15 in 2010 and 5 in 2017.
