François de Rugy doubts the competitiveness of nuclear power with the delay of the EPR Flamanville. The Minister of Ecological Transition and Solidarity reacted Friday, June 21 to the new delay of the EPR Flamanville (Channel). According to François de Rugy “we may have doubts about the future competitiveness” of nuclear power. The reactor site suffered further setbacks after a negative opinion from the Nuclear Safety Authority. While environmental groups like Greenpeace have denounced the “denial” and the “industrial strategy” of EDF, François de Rugy dismissed an abandonment of the site. “It would be a monumental mess , according to the minister. We can not envisage that EDF has invested 11 billion euros in this new-generation nuclear power plant project and that this never produces electricity. “
