EDF will present in a few days its new schedule for shutdowns of nuclear reactors for maintenance, the previous one having been modified due to the coronavirus crisis, announced the Minister for Energy, Élisabeth Borne. “We should have this new program in the coming days,” she said Thursday during a hearing before the commission for sustainable development of the National Assembly. “The important issue is that of minimizing disruptions to the industrial program of shutdowns for recharging and maintenance of nuclear power plants, in order to ensure their availability, especially for next winter,” said the Minister of Ecological and united transition. “EDF is working with us and in conjunction with ASN [Nuclear Safety Authority] to adapt its program for shutdown of units. ” EDF lowered its nuclear production target to 300 TWh on Thursdaythis year due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic on the maintenance schedule and it plans 330-360 TWh for 2021 and 2022.
