The UK is lagging behind China, Sweden and Germany in the shift to electric vehicles, according to a study, which warns more chargers and local battery supply are needed to support the transition. The report by EY found that the UK has a lower than average ratio of chargers to electric vehicles (EVs). The availability of charge points is seen as vital to encourage people to switch to electric. Petrol and diesel cars are being pushed out to try to cut carbon emissions, with the UK set to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030.
