Long journeys by electric car are being hampered by a poor-quality charging network, according to research. A study published today found that Ecotricity, which runs the main charging network on motorways, was the worst of ten major operators. The research by Auto Express, the motoring magazine, named the company bottom in all areas including price, charging speed, ease of use and reliability. A dependable, comprehensive network of roadside chargers is seen as vital to the long-term roll-out of battery-powered cars.
