German car manufacturer Volkswagen (VW) has announced the creation of a new company within the group that will focus on charging solutions and renewable energy offerings. The VW Group has this week confirmed the creation of the Elli Group, which will be headquartered in Berlin and will develop and deliver products that assist the emergence and growth of the electric vehicle (EV) market. Elli Group will offer customers 100% carbon-neutral energy “offerings” from renewable sources to be used to power EVs and stored in a variety of charging and energy storage solutions.

Nissan yesterday unveiled a new Nissan LEAF model with a 239-mile range, in a bid to retain its leading position in an increasingly competitive electric vehicle (EV) market. The new LEAF 3.ZERO e+ outstrips the previous 150-mile range of older models thanks to a larger 62kWh battery, putting it closer in range to higher end rivals like the Chevy Bolt and Tesla Model 3.
