Forecast for a sharp increase in wind and nuclear power generation, combined with an expected drop in demand pulled European spot power prices lower in wholesale trade on Wednesday. * France’s over-the-counter baseload power price for Thursday delivery plunged 26.7% to 31.50 euros a megawatt hour (MWh). The German day-ahead contract lost 16.5% to 33.75 euros/MWh. French wind electricity generation will rise by 3.3 gigawatts (GW) on Thursday to 7.5 GW, Refinitiv Eikon data showed. Nuclear power availability in France rose by over 4 percentage points to 76.2% of the installed maximum on Wednesday, compared with the previous day, following the restart of two EDF nuclear reactors.
