The nuclear regulator has served improvement notices on Devonport Dockyard following “several” crane-related incidents at the dock used to refuel nuclear submarines. An investigation has been launched and crane work has been suspended following incidents at 9 Dock, which has been fitted with earthquake-proof facilities to enable it to refit and refuel the UK’s four Trident submarines.
