Around 10,000 officers will be deployed every day during the COP26 climate change conference in Glasgow, in one of the largest policing operations ever undertaken in Britain. The huge security operation will involve officers from each of Scotland’s 13 divisions, including firearms officers, dog handlers, mounted branch, search teams and the marine unit. Police Scotland said it would also be relying on officers from other UK police services, who are able to be drafted in during major events as part of mutual aid arrangements.
