The president of the Cop26 climate change conference has insisted that it will be an “all-of-UK” event despite suggestions that No 10 is trying to sideline Nicola Sturgeon. Alok Sharma said that he wanted the event in Glasgow in November to be something the whole of the United Kingdom could be proud of. There had been claims that advisers at No 10 and the Cabinet Office were seeking to sideline Sturgeon’s role, amid fears she may seek to use the event as an “advert” for Scottish independence.
