Scotland has recorded its highest September temperature for more than a century, less than two months before Glasgow hosts the UN climate change conference. The Met Office confirmed a high of 28.6C had been reached in Charterhall in the Borders on Wednesday, making it the warmest September day north of the border for 115 years. The previous September high was recorded in 1906, when Gordon Castle in Moray reached 32.2C.
