Chernobyl, the mini-series about the 1986 nuclear disaster, leads the running for this year’s television Bafta awards with nominations in 14 categories. Jared Harris, who played the scientist Valery Legasov in the Sky/HBO drama, is shortlisted in the best actor category, while Stellan Skarsgard is up for best supporting actor in his role as Borys Shcherbyna, the Soviet politician. Craig Mazin, the show’s creator, is nominated for best drama writer. Chernobyl, which tells the story of the Soviet cover-up, is also shortlisted for best mini-series and a host of technical awards.
