An urban explorer has shared a collection of ‘eerie’ photos taken from inside the city of Pripyat, close to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Named after the nearby Pripyat River, the city once held a population of more than 49,000 people before it was evacuated on April 27, 1986, the day after the Chernobyl disaster. The nuclear disaster is considered to be the worst nuclear disaster in history, with roughly 4,000 premature deaths as a result of the disaster. Tony McManus, from Retford, said he had fulfilled a life-long dream when he visited the site in January this year.
