A not-for-profit climate change group claims that Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is “back high on the agenda” for Europe. The Bellona Foundation say that recent political developments such as the new Dutch government committing to 49% CO2 emission reductions and close out of all coal power plants by 2030 and the UK’s introduction of the Clean Growth energy strategy show a change of attitude towards the process. The environmental group say that furthermore, a number of research projects around Europe on the re-use of existing oil and gas infrastructure and CCS clustering show that momentum has been restored.
