Judy Lea (quoted in your article last week) is concerned that decisions relating to Bradwell 2 (BRB) may be taken too hastily. The only argument for nuclear is the scale of prospective demand for electricity in the light of Government’s self-imposed goals for eliminating CO2 emissions and electrification of almost everything. This ignores the scope and in fact urgent need to take radical steps to reduce overall demand for energy – a sizeable chunk of which is used in the processing and manufacture of the myriad items we take for granted in our unsustainable, consumption and fashion-obsessed society.
