New Nukes
The UK is facing a real threat of running short of energy, unless the design and build of nuclear reactors is speeded up, according to McKinnon and Clarke, the Fife-based global consultancy that advises companies on reducing their utility bills and carbon footprint. The company has urged the government, National Grid and energy firms to act now to avoid the crisis. Companies from around the world are currently lining up to become involved in the UK’s multi-billion-pound nuclear renaissance. Further delays might also occur on the judicial front. The government said last week that it was anticipating a legal challenge – possibly from environmentalist group Greenpeace – to decisions in favour of building nuclear reactors.
