Decision day is looming for the Wylfa Newydd nuclear project with hopes a positive planning result can help kickstart funding talks on the £12bn nuclear plant. Later this month Business and Energy Secretary Andrea Leadsom is set to announce the decision on the Development Consent Order to construct the power station on Anglesey. The department received a recommendation from the Planning Inspectorate in the summer with a decision due within three months of it being submitted. That announcement is now expected by October 23. A positive result would provide a welcome boost to the project which is currently in a state of limbo after it was suspended by Hitachi in January after they failed to reach a funding agreement with the UK Government.
