Wylfa Newydd developer drops option for giant former oil depot on Anglesey. Horizon Nuclear Power has dropped its option on the former Shell oil depot on Anglesey. The 200 acre site at Rhosgoch was one of three sites in north Anglesey that would have housed up to 10,000 workers during the construction project. An option agreement was signed between Horizon and Conygar Investment Company in 2017 with hopes the site could be transformed into a holiday park once the plant was built. Robert Ware, Chief Executive of The Conygar Investment Company, said while Horizon had cancelled the option at Rhosgoch they had not given up on nuclear. He said: “The Government’s White paper on energy comes out this summer and this is expected to offer a different way on funding nuclear power.
