The second phase of the Formosa 1 wind project offshore Taiwan has produced first power, Kallanish Energy reports. Ten turbines have been installed, six of which have started gradually generating power, Orsted said in a statement. That is “a major milestone,” said Matthias Baucenwein, Formosa 1 chairman and president of Orsted Asia-Pacific. Formosa 1 marks the first commercial-scale offshore wind farm in Taiwan. The Taiwanese government is aiming to produce 5.7 gigawatts of offshore wind by 2025.
