WIND power has set a new national record – generating enough electricity to serve as many as nine out of ten Scottish homes. Turbines generated 846,942 MWh of electricity to the national grid last month. That is enough to power the equivalent of 2.25million Scottish households and is UP a massive 33 per cent on the previous year. The new stats – released today by WWF Scotland and WeatherEnergy – set another milestone as it could have taken care of almost half – 48 per cent – of all Scottish electricity needs for the entire month.
