Hot functional testing has been completed at the Olkiluoto-3 EPR nuclear unit under construction in Finland with regular electricity generation scheduled for September 2019, four months later than expected, Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) said. In April 2018 TVO said it was waiting for an “overall baseline reschedule” for Olkiluoto-3 from plant supplier Areva-Siemens and could not say whether or not the revised timetable would delay the start of regular electricity production, which at the time had been planned for May 2019. Construction of the unit is nine years behind schedule. In March 2018 TVO signed an agreement with Areva-Siemens over costs and losses caused by delays to the Olkiluoto-3 project. The settlement included compensation of €450m to be paid in two instalments.
