But those lagoons are actually craters left by nuclear testing, and if you look down to the end of the beach, you’ll see a concrete dome hiding all kinds of radioactive waste. And now with rising sea levels, the storage facility — housing toxic materials such as plutonium — is leaking into the Pacific Ocean, potentially spreading its deadly contents far and wide.
