Copeland councillors have restated their unanimous backing to the principle of a new nuclear power station at Moorside. At a full council meeting this week, councillors voted to reaffirm their endorsement of the project and to continue to support the principle of the new-build on land next to Sellafield. NuGen, the firm behind the plans, announced a pause in the development of the project in May last year, pending a strategic review. An announcement on the future of the project is expected soon. Councillor David Moore, portfolio holder for nuclear, asked for – and received – councillors’ support at the full council.
