Wind to Gas Südermarsch is planning a multi-megawatt hybrid storage project and Greenpeace Energy and Energy of the North are building a wind gas electrolyzer in Schleswig-Holstein. These projects and the growing importance of hydrogen have prompted the EEHH cluster to focus entirely on the issue during the first meeting of renewable energies February 28, 2019 in Hamburg.Greenpeace Energy and the Ellhöft-based Energie des Nordens from Ellhöft are building an electrolyser to produce environment-friendly hydrogen from wind energy. The wind gas electrolyzer (device for decomposing water into its basic components hydrogen and oxygen with electricity) in Haurup, Schleswig-Holstein, is to feed up to 3.75 million kilowatt hours of hydrogen per annum into the gas grid for Greenpeace Energy’s 20,000 pro-wind gas customers from 2020 onwards. The project is backed by the “Norddeutsche Energiewende 4.0” (NEW 4.0) programme, which tests technologies with particular benefits for energy system transformation.
