648 olympic pools of nuclear waste in France. 1,620,000 cubic meters of radioactive waste were recorded in France at the end of 2017. That is the equivalent of 648 Olympic swimming pools, created in large part by sixty years of nuclear exploitation. 59% of the volume of this waste comes from the nuclear power industry, 28% from research, the rest is shared between Defense, non-nuclear industry and medical. These figures were revealed by the National Agency for Radioactive Waste Management (Andra) in its latest report .
