The management of radioactive materials and waste concerns us all, if only when we light a bulb. Indeed, nuclear energy is the main source of electricity production in France and this activity generates waste. The debate also concerns us as inhabitants or residents, the places of storage or storage of radioactive materials and waste being numerous on the national territory. The debate on the management of nuclear waste is not a minor subject. It challenges each of us and has a particular resonance in the health, environmental and economic fields. The national management plan, on which this debate will focus, presupposes the treatment of a very large number of topics: very low-level radioactive waste, the volumes of which will increase with the dismantling of nuclear power plants, the storage of spent fuel, the management of long-term most radioactive waste, the safety and security of facilities and transport, the cost and the risks of this management, the very long duration of this waste. All these topics, which engage future generations, will be open to discussion, to the confrontation of ideas and arguments.
