Pressure continues to mount on investors in coal, after Paris City Council passed a motion calling on the world’s biggest insurance companies to end their support for the coal industry, citing its impact on climate change and air pollution. The motion, which passed last night, is directed at the CEOs of key insurance and reinsurance firms who are set to attend a global insurance industry meeting in the French capital later this month. It is aimed at increasing pressure on them to both divest from and stop insuring coal projects.
