The EU’s solar energy capacity growth increased by 104% in 2019 compared to the year before. SolarPower Europe says this is the strongest growth the renewable energy technology has seen in the span of a single year since 2010. It notes at 16.7GW, more new solar capacity was installed across Europe than any other form of power generation – this compares to 8.2GW of new photovoltaic additions in 2018.
