Northvolt, a European start-up that aims to build a giant battery factory in Sweden to supply electric cars, has signed an agreement to secure five years’ worth of lithium from Canada’s Nemaska Lithium. The agreement could see Northvolt buying up to 5,000 tonnes a year of battery grade lithium when its factory starts production, the companies said.
